A massive cold snap set to hit the South Island
A sizable cold front is moving up from south of the South Island and promises freezing weather and snowfalls accompanied by strong winds, particularly in the lower South Island. These will begin Thursday and continue through until mid Saturday. Snowfalls are likely to be down as low as 100m with heaviest snowfalls predicted through Fiordland, inland Souhtland and Southern Otago
Snowfalls are predicted to be between 25-40cm, this means that all you drivers out there need to take care and drive with extreme caution. Also drivers be prepared, ensure you have plenty of food and warm clothing with you in case conditions hinder travelling.
